6. Daniel’s Long Time Prophecy

Father in heaven, we thank you so much again for the Holy Spirit and Lord you gave us that promise That when he the Spirit of truth shall come he will guide to all truth.

Not some truth, but to all truth And Lord, we pray that our hearts would be humble.

Father, you are looking for people who you can show yourself strong on behalf of, as it says in 2 Chronicles.

And Lord, you promised in your word that if we humble ourselves in the sight of the Lord, you will lift us up.

And so we pray and ask that our hearts will be open to receive the Holy Word.

And we pray for understanding, God, only you can help us to understand the things of Scripture.

And so bless each person by the time they leave.

May every person sense and feel the Holy Spirit's presence in this room tonight.

All right, well we're gonna start doing some question-answer session right before the message starts.

So if you have some questions and you said I'd like to have this answered, there's a little green box right there.

Joe, do you see that green box right there?

Just go ahead and put your question right in there, and we'll answer it.

But 1 of the questions that I'm going to answer tonight is about the rapture.

The word rapture does not appear in scripture whatsoever.

And oftentimes, a lot of people have a lot of questions about the secret rapture.

So here is the theology behind the rapture idea or the rapture theory, and it goes something like this.

People believe that at 1 time, at the very end, something's going to happen to a certain group of people, they're going to be invisibly raptured.

And then there's going to be a period of 7 years where there will be a second chance for the rest of God's people to repent.

And it is during those 7 years that the Antichrist shows up, the mark of the beast happens, and then all of a sudden Jesus comes back with all his glory and destroys the wicked.

And so this is the theology behind the secret rapture.

Now what's wrong with it is that it sets up a false confidence.

Confidence in things that are not scriptural.

The verses that apply to the secret rapture are actually verses that are all referring to the second coming of Jesus.

So a lot of times there's verses that are taken completely out of context, like the verse in Luke 17 talking about left behind, or second Peter, where it talks about God will come like a thief in the night.

Those verses are always talking and referring to the second coming of Jesus.

Now I'm going to elaborate for you once again.

So take your Bible, let's go to Luke chapter 17.

And it's important to know about the second coming because people were deceived about the first coming of Jesus and we don't wanna be that way.

All right, we're going to Luke chapter 17 and if you're there, go ahead and say amen.

Luke chapter 17 and for those who aren't there, what's the page number?

Okay, very good, you guys are helping me out.

Then he said to his disciples, Jesus is speaking to his disciples.

Now I want you to see just the simple logic of this, okay?

He said to his disciples, the days will come where you will desire to see 1 of the days of the Son of Man, and you will not see it.

And they will say to you, look here or look there, do not go after them or follow them.

For as lightning that flashes out of 1 part under heaven shines to the other part under heaven, So the Son of Man will be in his day.

So Jesus stops right there and he compares the second coming to what natural phenomena?

Lightning is not something that is secretive.

Lightning is powerful, it's audible, it's visible.

I want you to be tracking what Jesus is saying.

But first he must suffer many things and be rejected by this generation.

And as it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be in the days of the Son of Man.

They ate, they drank, they married wives, and they were given in marriage until the day that Noah entered the ark and the flood came and destroyed them all.

Okay, so Jesus stops right there and he compares the second coming to Noah's time.

He says there was a group of people that were doing things like eating and drinking and marrying and giving in marriage.

No, what's wrong with that is that God isn't mentioned in their lives whatsoever.

So we have a group of people that are so secular minded, we have a group of people who are completely devoid of anything spiritual.

And then God goes a little bit further and says, but then there was Noah and his family.

So how many groups of families, groups of people do we see here?

2, you see the unrighteous, and then you see the righteous.

You see the saved, and then you see the unsaved.

Verse 28, likewise as it was in the days of Lot, they ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built.

Nothing wrong with that, but God's not mentioned.

But on the day that Lot went out of Sodom, it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all.

Even so it will be in the day when the Son of Man is revealed.

Again, Jesus compares the second coming to another story in scripture, the story of Lot.

When Lot and his family left Sodom and Gomorrah, they were saved.

Again, you see only 2 groups right here, the saved and the unsaved.

Now let's continue with the logic of Jesus.

In that day, he who's on the housetop and his goods are in the house, let him not come down to take them away.

And likewise, the 1 who is in the field, let him not turn back.

Verse 33, whoever seeks to save his life will lose it.

I tell you in that night there will be 2 men in 1 bed.

1 group will be saved and 1 group will be lost.

1 group that is saved and 1 group that is lost.

Verse 36, 2 men will be in the field, 1 will be taken and the other left.

Medical Missionary Work- Part 3

May we open Thy Word and listen to the voice of the Spirit speaking through the inspired pages.

May the Spirit of inspiration come upon us all.

We thank Thee that the same voice which spoke in the long ago can speak, belongs to speak, to each 1 of us here.

O my Master, for this little time that we're together this morning.

In 2 Chronicles, the 25th chapter, we have a very interesting story.

You know, the Bible says that what things whoever were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.

In this 25th chapter of 2 Chronicles, we read about the experience of Amaziah.

In the fifth verse, he gathered all Judah together, and he had 300, 000 choice men able to go forth to war.

Then beside that, he hired 100, 000 mighty men of valor out of Israel for a hundred talents of silver.

He hired from the neighbor, apostate Israel, A hundred thousand more for a hundred talents of silver.

But there came a man of God to him saying, O king, let not the army of Israel go with thee, for the Lord is not with Israel to wit with all the children of Ephraim.

But if thou wilt go to it, be strong for the battle.

God shall make thee fall before the enemy.

For God hath power to help and to cast down.

And I am, as I have said to the man of God, but what shall we do for the hundred talents which I have given to the army of Israel?

And the man of God answered, The Lord is able to give thee much more than this.

Now there are several lessons that throng in on us as we read this.

First, he should have asked counsel of God when?

Second, it isn't a good thing to confederate, not only with the world, but even with those who bear the name of the people of God, when because of their apostasy the Lord is not with them.

We need a great deal of discernment to know how to apply this in a way that is not bigoted and narrow on the 1 hand, or too broad on the other.

The third thing we notice here is that even when we have gotten into a hard situation, thank God we can back out.

Do you know why people that build cars put a reverse gear in the car?

There are times when the only way out is to back out.

Now, Amaziah was a leader, but the spirit of prophecy said, Amaziah, you'd better back out of this.

Oh, but he says, look at all the money we've invested.

See, all the money we've already invested.

Yes, the Prophet said, I know about that.

But the Lord is able to give you much more than this.

It pays to listen to the spirit of prophecy, even when it means to back up and back out.

Now you notice the result of it was that the ones that were not allowed to go, their anger was greatly kindled.

And at any rate, God blessed, and He went ahead with the program as God had planned.

Now this morning I'd like to have us think for a little about this matter of following the Lord on every detail.

While we're here in 2 Chronicles, let's go to the 20th chapter and the 20th verse.

This is when Moab, Edom, and Ammon came against Judah and Ammon came against Judah, and Jehoshaphat sought the Lord earnestly, and the Lord heard him, told him to put singers before the army as they went out.

The last part of the 20th verse, Jehoshaphat said, Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem.

Believe in the Lord your God, so shall ye be established.

Believe his prophets, so shall you prosper.

And God has given us, in the Bible and the spirit of prophecy, so much precious counts.

I'm so glad for this book, Medical Ministry, aren't you?

Page 61, Page 61, the bottom of the page.

What does she mean, I'm instructed to say?

Yes, it's in some idea that popped into her head.

I am instructed to say that in our educational work there is to be no compromise in order to meet the world's standards.

God's commandment-keeping people are not to unite with the world, to carry various lines of work according to worldly plans and worldly wisdom.

Our people are now being tested as to whether they will obtain their wisdom from the greatest teacher the world ever knew or seek to the God of Ekron.

Let us determine that we shall not be tied by so much as a thread to the educational policies of those who do not discern the voice of God and who will not hearken to his commandments.

Down below the middle of the page, There is danger in their attaching themselves to worldly institutions and working under the ministrations of worldly physicians.

Now, This is why we have a total Seventh-day Adventist staff.

Have we reached the time when literally thousands of our people are not afraid of this danger?

Scores of institutions where the world and the Church are all mixed up.

We've come to a time, and it's to weep about, when it's considered a wonderful goal to have a certain percentage of the total staff, seventh day.

The objective of a total SDA staff has long since been surrendered as impracticable, impossible.

But now, dear ones, let me ask you something.

You will all agree in the answer to this.

Is merely having the name on the church book, is that the goal?

What is the reason for having a total SDA stat?

Isn't it so that everyone is a living, vibrant Christian, capable of receiving from Jesus and passing on to the patient and the student?

And you notice in what we read from 2 Chronicles there, 25, that God did not want even the children of Ephraim to go with that army of Judah.

They had their golden calves that they were worshipping.

And I want to tell you something, friends.

There's too many members of the remnant church and too many institutions of the remnant church that are worshipping golden calves.

And God says, be careful, don't get into that.

Don't assume that that kind of help is what you need.

Now I'll be frank with you, I don't know all the reasons why our minds are led to this this much, and I doubt if anybody here does, But I have found by long experience that God often burdens our minds to study something to get us ready for something we're going to meet a few minutes later or days or weeks later.

And as I saw somewhere, this quaint little way of putting it, the best time to prevent an accident is before it happens.

And if you and I will study the spirit of prophecy and be afraid of worldly education and worldly institutions and worldly physicians and worldly educators in any life, oh dear ones, God wants to make this little place truly a centre from which light will radiate in many directions.

Now you take in this matter of equipment.

My mind was led yesterday to look up something in a little book that Elder Burden got out in Loma Linda, back before most of us here was born, printed in their little press.

This is called the Medical Evangelistic Library.

There were several numbers of this, this tiny little booklet, but In it, much of it is quotations from the testimonies that Sister White sent Elder Burton.

I want to read just a little here this morning, and let me say so that I won't be misunderstood.

I do not have any specific thing in mind.

Stands out in your mind from the time we were together a day before yesterday.

Somebody share with us something that is still impressing you?

Understanding of the times, and as a result they knew what Israel ought to do.

Does it make a difference what time it is?

Thank God we can know what to do if we know what time it is.

Why has Jesus put the health work, The health message, medical ministry in the third angel's message.

I think about this is the best way that we can bring this to pass.

We must be sanctified, holy, Body, Soul and Spirit.

He knows that if we break his laws, we'll break all of them, including those in our human body.

Praying for Lord for the blended ministry for body and soul.

To get a people ready for Jesus coming, is that right?

That includes, first of all, winning them to Christ and the truth, but it includes a development.

We're to be developing day by day, and we're to be reaching out and winning others.

Brother Warren Wilson has something interesting to share with us this morning.

I think it's an illustration of some of the various ways that God uses on this campus and its outreach in getting hold of souls.

I don't know all of the autumn wallets involved in this particular experience, but I know that some of you have had a share in This little experience I'm going to tell this morning.

How many of you are acquainted with LeBron and Kathy McBride?

Bushnell had this young man in 1 of his classes over where he teaches.

And saw in him a real potential, saw in him an honest soul, and gave him great controversy.

And a while back, LeBron was interested in coming to Wildwood as a student, if you remember.

He and his wife came over and spent the weekend at our house.

She has no religious background of any kind.

He was interested in her learning to cook and some of these things.

But he told me the other day the reason that they didn't come was for fear that we would try to talk them into being headless.

1 of his biggest worries, concerns, is this job he has.

And the reason he's concerned about his job is because he doesn't have anything to do.

He's a consultant for these underprivileged and young people like this, trying to fit them into some kind of a work program.

Some days you won't have a single student.

And so, but I told him, I said, well now, LeBron, do you think the Lord led you into that class?

He said, yes, he led me into that job, he makes good money.

I said, how would you have gotten time to read all these books if you hadn't had this particular job?

And he has recently read Great Controversy, Christ's Object Lessons, Steps to Christ, Ministry of Healing, and almost through his Czar of Ages.

And they're just absorbing these books, and he's been teaching Steps to Christ in Sunday school quite a bit.

He recently attended the cooking school over in Foods for Life.

He and she were there at all the meetings, but they were there at a good many.

And he was telling me that we're eating some wonderful food since we went to the cooking school, but he called me.

I saw him over there, talked to him quite a bit, quite at length.

And then he called up and asked if he could come visit me.

Well, we had called him and gotten him to some Friday night vespers and things of this kind.

And so he called and told me he wanted to come see me.

So I made an appointment with him the evening before last, came over and spent a couple hours with me.

And he was back on this thing concerned about his job.

This is when I told him that I felt that his job was really a providence.

When do you get time to read this many books?

You know, just 1 right after the other, as he said.

And he said, well, he said, Kathy and I have made our decision to join the Adventist Church.

And he said 1 of the reasons that I didn't come to Wildwood as a student was for fear he would try to talk me into being an Adventist over at Wildwood.

He's here, we've talked ourselves into it.

And so he, Then he told me that he had told the church that he was going to leave the Nazarene church and join the Adventist church.

He said the minister came to see him and was most kind.

He said he just showed a wonderful Christian spirit.

He said they're leaving when his Sunday school class ends.

I forgot whether it was the first or the last of April.

He said, well, now what do you think I should do about my job?

I said, well, LeVon, I wouldn't worry about my job.
